Kari Barcome, LCSW

Kari Barcome is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She has worked in the medical field since 1988, where she became the first Oncology and HIV Social Worker for St Anthony’s Hospital. During the years at St Anthony’s, Kari found her niche with those who were terminally ill. She worked closely with Suncoast Hospice, until she decided to transition away from hospital care to Hospice care. She worked with both the adult and pediatric population with Suncoast Hospice. In 2000, Kari’s family relocated to Maryland, where she began a career with Johns Hopkins Hospital. Kari spent 15 years working with adult and pediatrics in the different ICU units of Johns Hopkins Hospital, in Baltimore.  In 2015, Kari returned to Florida and to Suncoast Hospice. Kari worked 8 years in the inpatient units of Suncoast Hospice. Upon her retirement, Kari knew she was not quite done working with those who are approaching the end of their lives. Kari connected with 3 of her friends and co-workers from Hospice. This meeting began the path of creating Sunset Doulas Pinellas. Kari lives in Pinellas County with her husband and golden retrievers. Kari serves as a volunteer with Suncoast Hospice and Owls Nest Wildlife Rescue. She is also a bee keeper with multiple hives in her backyard.
